Solutions to common issues with Symmetry Docs MCP. For first-time setup, see getting started.

Connecting

First confirm the URL is exactly https://docs.symmetry.com/authed/mcp.If the URL is correct, restart the app. Most clients read their MCP configuration only when they launch, so a server you added while the app was already open will not load until you restart it. That is the usual situation during setup, and it applies again after any later edit to the config file. Cursor is the exception and picks up changes on its own.
Use the same Client Support Center credentials you use for Symmetry Docs. If they work in a browser but not in your AI assistant, sign in to the docs in a browser first, then reconnect.Popular clients such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor can always complete the sign-in. If yours is not one of those, contact support.

Page access

The sign-in probably did not complete. Reconnect and confirm you are prompted to authenticate. If it still cannot reach the page after a successful sign-in, contact support.
That should not happen, since it reads only what you can read. Contact support with the page it named.

Answers

An uncited answer is not proof of a problem. Search returns a link with every result, but your AI assistant decides whether to show it, so ask for one explicitly: add “cite the page” and ask again. If it still answers with no Symmetry link, or cites a page that is not Symmetry documentation, then it is working from general knowledge and the server is not connected. Check that sign-in completed, then re-run the connection check.
Search returns snippets. Ask your AI assistant to read the full page and name it, for example “read the whole STE licensing page and list every credential type.”
