Maps returns the taxes that apply to a single employee, from a home and work address pair, and draws the geospatial boundaries behind each result on the map. It is most effective for researching one employee at a time, or for seeing why a location resolves the way it does. For many addresses at once, use Batch.

What a lookup takes

Two addresses plus two inputs that change which taxes are required: For the steps, see Quickstart: Look up taxes in Portal.

What comes back

Required and additional taxes for both the employee and the employer, the jurisdiction identifiers behind them, and minimum wage rates for clients who license the add-on. See Data returned from maps, and Wage Rates overview for the minimum wage side.

Display settings

The map view and the boundaries drawn on it are configurable, and those settings change only what is rendered, not which taxes are returned. See Configure maps display settings.
Results are also shaped by organization-wide settings. The Payer, Authority and Tax withholding filters can each hide taxes that were returned. See Global settings.
